While the path itself may differ, eventually we all eventually return to the dust from which we came. It is patently human to wonder what happens when we die. Each culture has its own set of beliefs in terms of death and any potential afterlife. At the end of the day, it seems that folks tend to believe what they WANT to believe.

The economic crisis in Venezuela has created devastation and chaos, with the IMF projecting inflation rates hitting 10 million percent in 2019. The currency is so worthless that they no longer count it--they weigh it. In Venezuela today, a one-pound package of dry pasta costs a whole week's wages. We have the unique opportunity to save people's lives while politically 'flipping' a corrupt Communist government in our hemisphere with a legitimately-elected proponent of democracy in Juan Guaido. With a chance to do the right thing while strengthening our hand in the Western Hemisphere, could this crisis provide the impetus to create bipartisan legislation that breaks the American political logjam?

When we cast our gaze out upon the millions of stars visible in just our galaxy, it is compelling to believe that we live in a universe that is teeming with life. If this is the case, the question begs asking: WHERE IS EVERYONE? In this PROBING episode of The Proversation, we ponder our place in the universe, the challenges of interstellar travel, our space program, UFO's, aliens, the pyramids, and reasons it still feels awfully lonely over here.

At 29 years of age, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made history when she became the youngest woman elected to Congress, defeating an established Democrat, 'The King of Queens' Joseph Crowley, in the process. Arguably the second most polarizing figure in American politics, she has been called, '...the biggest star in the Democratic Party,' and '...the most dangerous person in America.' So who's right?

Koko the gorilla was 46 years old when she passed on July 9th of 2018. While she was hailed by some experts for her 'mastery of sign language,' she was dismissed by others as little more than a clever parlor trick. But for most of us, Koko touched our lives by reminding us that perhaps we are closer to our primate relatives than we originally thought. We hope you enjoy our tribute to Koko and encourage you to think about how you view the other thinking and feeling creatures around us. If you wish to donate or to learn more about Koko and the other intelligent animals achieving the ability to communicate with us, please visit The Gorilla Foundation at http://www.koko.org. Thanks for listening!

America has traditionally stood strong on the premise that a moral populace requires less governance. We hold dear the idea that when Americans vote their conscience, America wins. But as we wrestle with mass shootings, growing inequality, racism, tribalism, and a general lack of empathy the question must be asked: Have we lost our moral compass and if so, how do we get it back?

This week has seen the cancellation of "Roseanne," the most popular show on television following a racist tweet from Roseanne Barr. At the same time, cable talk show host Samantha Bee comes under fire for calling Ivanka Trump a 'feckless cunt.' While sponsors have been quick to pull their ads, so far the show remains on the air. Is there a double standard at play and why do we care what celebrities say in the first place?

With the state of all that is going on in the world, Brian and I are pondering the definition and application of intelligence not only in general but in this great nation of ours. It seems more and more that people both misunderstand and misapply what we all need most right now, intelligence. Please accept our apologies for the audio quality, there were some technical difficulties, nothing too major and the problem has been corrected for future podcasts. Thank you for listening.

As the Parkland School students attempt to maintain momentum with the push for reasonable Gun legislation, Brian and I felt like having a quick Proversation about the subject. Time was tight for us the day we recorded, so I am sure we will revisit the subject as the situation evolves.
Thank you for listening.

If there’s one thing it seems you are not supposed to talk about in public, it’s POLITICS. It’s not for the dinner table. It’s not for parties. It’s not for the workplace. It’s not for social engagements. It’s not proper talk on a first date. It’s not proper talk on the 10,000th date. We are just not supposed to talk about politics anymore.
It wasn’t always the case in this great nation of ours. Before electronic media, debates were part of public discourse, and were often staged events that occurred in the Town Hall and people would attend for entertainment. Debate was encouraged.
